The quince is related to apples and pear. This fruit is an ancient one- there are speculations that it is the fruit mentioned in the "Song of Solomon" that is sometimes called an apple. A quince is a tart fruit when a strong perfume that was used to freshen the breath at weddings. Do try this unusual, but delicious jelly with the ancient history, my dear.
